For the past few days, I've been feeling like something's stuck in my throat!
I took an allergy pill before bed as usual, on Saturday. All night and the next day, off and on, I've been feeling like the pill's stuck in my throat. On Monday night, I felt like it had gone down partway through my esophagus, because it started hurting lower down and burning any time I tried to swallow. Kind of like heartburn, except I've never gotten heartburn before so I don't think it's that. So I thought, great, it's moving along.
But now it's back in my throat again. I'm not sure if it's still something stuck in my throat because it's really hurting now. Yesterday, it hurt even to eat. Every time I swallowed, I'd feel like I'm choking. Sort of like a burning pain. It also hurts every time I swallow my saliva or anything. If I am not swallowing, everything is fine and nothing hurts. The pain is similar to when I had mono and could not swallow, but I don't think it's a sore throat or swollen tonsils because I experience absolutely no pain unless I am swallowing, and I don't have any other symptoms.
So what's going on? I don't know if it's still the pill tablet that's stuck in there...this seems kind of fishy.
Sandra,
Since you are having pain with swallowing your saliva. you should consider speaking to your physician about this problem. You report the pill feeling like it was stuck in your throat, which suggests you didn't have enough water when you swallowed the pill. Sometimes this can cause the pill to get stuck or lodged in the esophagous (tube from the mouth to the stomach). Depending on the type of pill, it can irritate and even cause small ulcers in esophagus. The pill is probably not still there, but it is difficult to fully determine the problem without a medical evaluation.

Wow, thanks. I didn't
Wow, thanks. I didn't realize I needed water to swallow pills. I've always just swallowed them without water. I will be sure to use plenty of water in the future. Thanks.
