i just today have experienced really sharp pain around the left temple area of my head, it only happens occasionally as of right now. the pain is so sharp that it makes me stop in my tracks. There is no constant headache or migraine.
This sounds like it would be pretty scary for you. Of course, there is no way to know for sure what is going on without seeing a doctor, but there are several possible causes for this pain, some serious and others not. On the serious side, sudden intense headache can be a sign of a stroke or a TIA (transient ischemic attack), which is a very brief stroke lasting only a few minutes. TIAs are usually accompanied by dizziness, numbness or vision loss: here is a resource with more information about TIAs:

The pain could also be caused by what is commonly called an "ice pick headache" or primary stabbing headache because the pain is so sudden, localized, and intense, it feels like you have been stabbed by an ice pick. Here is a site with more information on these headaches:

You should see a doctor and get the pain diagnosed, so if it is something serious you can address the problem or if it is just painful, you can get information on treatments. Good luck, I hope this helps.
